Volume 3 continues the story of Palace's early years. The club's owners, the Crystal Palace Company, were in the hands of the Official Reciever, and a liquidation order for the Company was decreed in 1909.
In spite of the club's perilous financial situation, Palace's on-field performance improved steadily and the club established its presence as a significant force in the South of England.
Richly illustrated, and crammed with previously unpublished material, the narrative chronicles Palace's boardroom battles, the scandals involving the players, the bitter duels with local rival proffesional club Croydon Common, and shines a light on the silverware which Palace won during this period.
Drawn entirely from primary sources, the book uncovers fascinating biographical informatiom about the men and women who were Palace's original shareholders, and reveals previously unrecorded material showing the club's role in the spreak and growth of the beautiful game.
